What Therapy Looks Like

Therapy looks and feels different for everyone.  It is both empowering and challenging and it is okay if you are feeling some anxiety or trepidation.  That is common. Important things to notice are that you feel ready to make changes and that you find a therapist you feel comfortable with.

A goal of therapy is to help you better understand your emotions, behaviors and perceptions and how they are getting in the way of what you want.  In this process, you will begin to identify patterns and notice where and when they may be negatively impacting your life. I will provide a safe, nonjudgmental, respectful and confidential space for you. Together we will actively engage in the process of planning actions to enable change to occur. I will take care in assessing your concerns and in helping you to find the right solutions in order for you to feel happier and more confident.

My style draws upon more than twenty years of experience with children, young adults, and families. I have worked in schools, community centers, crisis agencies, and in patient programs.  Therapy is tailored to each person's unique needs and informed by theories such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness practice, and more.

I'm eager to guide and assist you in finding strategies and solutions to the problems you're facing.  And, I am committed to helping you feel confident in your abilities to manage your life struggles independently and away from the therapy office.  I won't just give you answers, I will give you tools to help you feel comfortable, competent, and in control. If you're ready for an appointment, let's talk
